She is a certified licensed educator in Elementary Education and Middle Grades Education. She served in the P12 sector for 32 years as a classroom teacher, ELA Resource teacher, EIP Lead Teacher, and District Differentiated Resource Personnel. She is also endorsed with Georgia Professional Standards Commission in Reading, Gifted Education, and Teacher Support Specialist.
Dr. Thompson finds unceasing joy in being able to return to her beloved alma mater, Savannah State University in 2013 to help with the return and preparation of the Teacher Education Preparation Program. Currently, Dr. Thompson is a tenured Associate Professor, Middle Grades Education Coordinator, Post Baccalaureate Coordinator, Field & Clinical Experience Coordinator, and serves as the Interim Dean for the College of Education. Her teaching philosophy focuses on two main components: innovative student-centered learning environment and positive student-teacher relationship. She feels blessed to be given the opportunity to develop, grow, and market the College of Education while recruiting, retaining, and graduating college students. As an educational leader in the city of Savannah and in the state of Georgia, Dr. Thompson values the mission and the responsibility to train college students to become teachers, fortify research-based instructional practices in and out of the classroom as well as empower teachers already in the field.

Dr, Thompson is grounded in her Christian faith and stands firm on her belief. She is a member of St. Philip Monumental AME Church where she serves as a steward of the church, member of the Missionary Society, and Director of the Young People’s Department. One of her favorite scripture is Romans 12:7, “If your gift is serving others, serve well. If you are a teacher, teach well”. She is a servant of our Lord and Savior who works diligently, serves with humility, and strives to empower others using her talents, gifts, and resources favored by God professionally, socially, and personally.
She is proud and honored to be the mother of three young adult men (Darien, Donovan and Donte’), the grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters (Kiara and Savannah), and one great granddaughter (Kai’Loni). She is a grateful thirteen-year Breast Cancer Survivor!

Biography
Dr. Cora Bragg Thompson is the third child of Ms. Shirley Davis. She grew up in a single-parent home where her mother stressed the importance of education and a love for God. Dr. Thompson is a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic educator. She is a product of the Savannah Chatham County Public School System. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Savannah State College, a Master’s degree in Education Leadership from Troy State University, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
